Put a professional eye on your look and language,
and let the soul of your work show through.
The Gap
You’re building something that matters, and you’re stretched thin, so you make most of it yourself—a flyer here, a deck there, a season of posts, each done fast and moved past. No single piece is wrong. But made in different moments, by different hands, they slowly stop agreeing, and stop feeling like you.
Your audience can’t name it, but they feel it: something’s off. Great design can still say the wrong thing; the sharpest words still fall flat with the wrong presentation. When look and language pull apart, the soul of the work slips through the cracks—and trust goes with it.
When your materials don’t agree with each other, people don’t consciously think “bad design/copy”—they just feel a flicker of doubt, and doubt is expensive. It’s the funder who hesitates over a gift, the investor who passes on the deck, the customer who scrolls past without knowing why. Closing that gap isn’t cosmetic. It’s what makes people trust what you’re telling them.
The Eye
Tools and templates put polished-looking work in everyone’s hands. You can make more, and faster than ever—but none of it tells you whether the design and the words are doing their job, or telling the same story.
As an insider, you see what you mean—not always what lands. That’s what an outside eye is for. I’ve spent two-plus decades learning to read how look and language land together—most people catch when one is off; the hard part is seeing both. The moment they stop agreeing.
You keep making the work. I make sure your look and your language are speaking as one—so the soul that animates it all shows through to everyone else.
The Work
Start with a single piece. Step back to see the parts and the whole. Or keep an eye on everything you make so it all rings true.
One piece, one honest read
Send a single piece—a flyer, a landing page, a deck. You get a clear video walkthrough plus a written summary: what’s working, what’s holding it back, and whether your look and your language are saying the same thing. Concrete enough to act on right away—no meeting required.

The whole picture, back in focus
Send your five most important public-facing pieces—the ones doing the most work for you. You get a video walkthrough and written summary that reads them as one: where you’re strong, where they’ve drifted apart, and whether your look and your language hold as one across the whole.

Fractional Creative Direction
For teams making things all the time—with an in-house designer or comms team, a vendor, or a founder doing it all. You send work as you make it, and I keep your look and your language on course, so nothing drifts. I concept and design the key pieces that set direction. Your team carries the rest.

How it Works
Your piece, plus a few quick basics—a link to your site or mission, and who you’re trying to reach. No lengthy brief; just enough for me to read your work against who you are and who it’s for, instead of in a vacuum.
I read your work the way your audience does, and the way a trained eye does—checking whether your look and your language are telling one story.
A video walkthrough plus a written summary and change recommendations—honest, specific, and ready to act on the day it lands. No meetings required.
The Questions
Especially then. This is built for values-based teams doing good work on a real budget—nonprofits, B-corps, small startups, founders wearing every hat—who make their own materials and want a professional eye without a professional’s overhead. You don’t need a big brand. You need someone to tell you the truth about the work you already make.
Anything you put in front of people. A pitch deck, a flyer, a landing page, an email, a whole campaign—if you made it and it represents you, it counts. You don’t need a ‘brand’ in the formal sense; you just need something you want to land better than it does now.
I give you the direction—clear, specific, ready to hand to whoever makes your work. On a critique or an audit I stay out of the production, and that’s on purpose: it keeps this affordable, and it keeps you and your team in control of the making. You get a senior eye without paying a senior rate to push every pixel.
I’ll take on design work occasionally, on the right projects, at a premium rate—ask me.
Both, always—that’s the whole point. Most design reviews only look at one half, which is exactly how the two end up disagreeing: a headline promising urgency next to visuals that feel laid-back, or copy that says ‘approachable’ set in type that reads cold. I look at look and language together, as one thing, because that’s how your audience actually experiences it—they don’t see a design, then read your words separately. Any gap between the two is where trust leaks out.
If there’s one piece you’re working on right now, start with a critique. If your whole public presence feels a little off—the pieces don’t quite hang together—that’s an audit. Not sure? Send me a note and I’ll point you to whichever fits. I’d rather you get the right thing than the bigger thing.
You pay when you book, like the other tiers. But if a critique doesn’t give you something real to act on, tell me and I’ll refund it in full—no awkwardness, no forms.
Yes. If you’ve already had a Critique and want to go further, don’t book the Audit through the form—email hello@eyeandsoul.com first and I’ll send a separate invoice for the difference, so you’re only paying it once. From there it moves like any Audit: five business days, video walkthrough, written summary.
A critique or an audit is a piece of work I hand back—you take it from there. Ongoing is where I stop being a vendor and start being part of your team as a Fractional Creative Director. You send things as you make them, we talk regularly, and I’m close enough to your mission to direct rather than react.
It’s also where I’m most likely to shape the work rather than recommend changes to it—concepting a campaign, finding the line that makes it land, designing the piece that sets the direction for the rest. Visuals and voice both, the way I always read them, but from inside the work instead of across the table. Your team still executes, and I still don’t push every pixel—but when it’s faster to draw it than describe it, I draw it.
Rhythm and scope get set in conversation, because no two teams make things at the same pace. It’s month-to-month—pause or stop any time, no long-term contract. I take only a few of these on at a time, so the attention behind it is real.
